In an effort to build a small but reliable quad capable of carrying a gopro on a good gimbal, yet being small enough to fit in standard carry-on hand luggage, I bought a Quantum XJ470 frame from HobbyKing.
My first build was done just before I went to Lanzarote for a week (Dec 2015) using some spare (over-sized) Multistar 22-pole motors, which are known to cause sync-issues with various ESCs.
And yes, despite having flashed the Afro 30A's to BLHeli and turned the timing down to "low" (0 deg) - after about 1 minute of hover in the apartment in Playa Blanca (it was blowing a gale due to a storm, so never got any footage) one motor spazzed out and it dropped to the floor. luckily no serious damage.
I was looking for something like 3110 T-Motors, but nobody has any in stock, so I bought a set of Multistar Elite 2810-750kv motors, and initial impressions aregood, they are Uber-smooth.
